Blush to White

There is a light that exists for about twenty minutes in the early morning — before the day fully begins, when everything is soft and the edges between things are not yet decided. This set was made from that light. The blush at the top was built first — warm, rosy, the colour of skin that has been kept safe. It was deepened until it had enough presence to be seen, then softened until it had no hard edge anywhere. The fade to white begins somewhere in the middle of the nail and cannot be located precisely — which is the whole point. Ombré that you can find the seam on is ombré that was not blended long enough. This was blended until the seam disappeared entirely. The white at the tip is not bright. It is the white of something that has been warmed — ivory with the faintest memory of colour, clean without being cold. Every nail was done separately. Every nail required the same patience as the first. There are no shortcuts in a hand-blended ombré. Only time, and attention, and the decision to do it right. This is the set for the most important moments — and for every ordinary Tuesday that deserves to feel like one.
