Cherry on Top

Some things are exactly what they appear to be — and that is the whole point. Eight nails carry a clean blush-nude base and a perfect white French tip. The tip was applied by hand, each edge clean and straight, the width consistent from nail to nail, because the cherries on the accent nails are small enough that the only thing visible alongside them is the tip — and a tip that is not perfect draws attention to itself for the wrong reasons. These tips are not attention-seeking. They are simply correct. The accent nails carry the cherries. Each cherry was painted in three stages — the first red sphere, then the second slightly overlapping it, then the stems: two separate lines meeting at a shared point at the top, each one extended upward to exactly the same height. The green leaves were painted last, small enough to sit between the stems without crowding them. The whole composition is approximately the size of a small button. Everything within it is correct. This is the set that goes with everything and says something — not loudly, not all at once, but reliably, across many occasions, to people who get close enough to look. Made by hand. Made with patience. Made for someone who believes that small things, done precisely, matter enormously.
