Still Glowing

Some things look like they come from the earth. Some look like they come from the sky. This set was made at the meeting point of both. The sage-green base was built in layers — each one adding depth to a colour that sits between botanical green and soft grey, the exact shade of a sage leaf in morning light when the dew is still on it. The magnetic shimmer was charged by hand, the wand drawn across each nail at the angle that produces a soft diagonal shift — not the dramatic cat-eye of the darker magnetic sets, but something gentler: a movement of light rather than a streak of it. And then the accent nails. A starburst tool was pressed to the centre of the cured nail while a light-reflective topcoat was applied — pulled outward in multiple directions simultaneously, producing the radiating pattern that catches every light source and reflects it back in lines, the way a star appears when you look at it directly rather than letting your eye adjust. The effect looks like something celestial embedded in something botanical. A star inside a leaf. Light inside green. The contrast is the whole point — and it is the kind of contrast that makes someone stop what they're doing and ask to look more closely.
