Ten Worlds

Some sets are made from a single idea. This one was made from ten. The orange and yellow grid was painted as a stained-glass window in miniature — each pane a separate application, the gold leading between them drawn last. The olive nail carries a hand-cast gold star charm at its centre, the star raised above the surface the way a medal sits on a uniform. The dark wine nail holds a garnet-red gem, faceted and real, placed in a gold oval setting that was built around it. The teal nail was finished with a gold architectural edge — clean, structural, like a frame. The hot pink swirl was painted in a single fluid session, the colour moving through itself. The rose shimmer nail carries a tiny gold star charm, pressed in at the point where the eye naturally falls. The white dome nail has a pearl border, each tiny pearl placed individually around its edge. The olive serpent nail has a hand-sculpted snake charm curling across its surface. The deep brown nail carries a gold starburst, its rays extended outward in perfect proportion. Ten nails. Ten completely different decisions. One hand that holds all of them without contradiction.
