The Twice French

Most things become more interesting when one specific constraint is changed. This set changed one constraint: the tip has two lines instead of one. That is the entire design difference between this set and the classic blush French tip. And yet the difference it makes is architectural. The first white line is applied at the standard French tip height — clean, sharp, the foundation. Then, before the topcoat, a second white line is applied approximately two millimetres higher — the same width, the same opacity, the same care. Between them is a stripe of nude base that reads, when the two lines are correct, as the space between two parallel walls: a shadow, a depth, a sense that this nail has layers the eye cannot fully resolve. The composition is entirely geometric, entirely minimal, and entirely the result of a decision to apply one additional line with the same precision as the first. That decision, repeated ten times, across ten nails, is the set you are holding. Made by hand. Made with the patience of someone who understands that in nail art as in architecture, the most significant detail is often the space between two things.
