Hot Waves

There is a specific moment when two things that are almost the same reveal how different they are. Soft pink and hot pink look similar at a distance. Up close — when one is flowing alongside the other in a single curved brushstroke — they are entirely different: one soft and dreamy, one vivid and certain, and the space where they meet is where the whole set lives. The sheer nude base was applied first — almost transparent, the kind of base that lets the nail's natural colour come through the way skin shows through sheer fabric. The pink swirl tip was painted over it, the soft pink placed first in a flowing S-curve from the tip inward, and then the hot pink applied beside it in the same movement, slightly overlapping at points, the two colours carrying each other forward the way two threads create a fabric when they cross. The result is a tip that has the movement of water and the warmth of something entirely pink — a tip that changes as the hand changes angle, the soft pink catching more light in one position, the hot pink reading more vivid in another. Made by hand. Made from the understanding that two pinks together are always more interesting than one.
