Bridal nails have a lot to do. They need to match your lehenga and jewellery, show off your mehendi, survive several days of functions and look perfect in close-up photos of the ring and the varmala. Press-on nails are a calm way to get there: no salon appointment in the busiest week of your life, and a set you can try on in advance.
Start with your outfit and jewellery
- Red or maroon lehenga: a wine-red and blush combination with gold, like Sacred Heart, ties the whole look together.
- Pastel or ivory lehenga: blush, peach and white with 3D flowers or pearls. The Bridal Vine and Serving Princess are made for this.
- Heavy gold jewellery: echo it with gold chrome, gold beads or filigree, as in Crusted Pearl or Pistachio Palace.
- Polki or kundan: keep the base soft (nude, ivory, champagne) and let one or two accent nails carry the detail.
Think about your mehendi
Dark mehendi frames your nails in every photo. Soft nude, blush or ivory bases make the mehendi pattern stand out, while very dark nails can blend into it. If you love a bold colour, keep it to accent nails or choose it for the reception instead of the mehendi day.
Choose a shape and length you can live with
For most brides we recommend a medium almond. It lengthens the fingers in ring photos, looks elegant with bangles and chooda, and is practical enough for days of rituals. Coffin and stiletto look dramatic but can catch on heavy dupattas and embroidery. If you have never worn long nails, try your set at home for a day before the wedding.
Your bridal nail timeline
- 4 to 6 weeks before: shortlist designs and confirm your size. WhatsApp us a hand photo with a coin for free sizing.
- 3 to 4 weeks before: order your set. If you want something made only for you, start a custom design with photos of your outfit; custom sets need extra time to paint.
- 1 to 2 weeks before: do a trial application with adhesive tabs to check fit and shape, then store the set back in its case.
- The day before your first function: apply with nail glue for up to 2 weeks of wear.
One set or several?
Many brides wear one bridal set for the main ceremony and switch to something lighter for haldi or mehendi. Because press-ons come off in five minutes with warm water and can be reused 3 to 4 times, you can plan a different look for each function. We cover function-by-function ideas in our guide to mehendi, haldi and sangeet nails.
Matching nails for the bridal squad
Coordinated nails for bridesmaids and family look lovely in group photos. For five or more sets, we coordinate designs, size every person over WhatsApp and ship everything together. Start on our custom nails page.
Wedding-week tips
- Keep a small tube of glue and the cuticle stick in your wedding bag for quick fixes.
- Apply after your mehendi has dried and been scraped off, so the glue bonds to a clean nail.
- Avoid hand creams on your nails before applying; moisturise cuticles afterwards.
- Pack the case so you can remove the set safely for your honeymoon and wear it again later.
